Every story has a shape.
INTERPRETIVE PLANNING

An interpretive plan organizes the different ways you tell stories throughout your site. Based on your overall goals for visitor experience, the plan integrates the messages you communicate in exhibits, tours, and other media. I can help establish your goals and messages and select the best media for engaging visitors in your stories.

I've worked on interpretive plans for:

  • Mount Rushmore National Memorial

  • Missouri Botanical Garden

  • Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum, Missouri

  • Grand Encampment Museum, Wyoming

EXHIBIT DEVELOPMENT

An exhibit plan organizes the resources you have for storytelling —objects, images, and facts—into the stories you wish to tell, based on your interpretive goals for the content and your experience goals for visitors. I can help with goal setting, research, conceptualizing, media treatments, and writing. And I'll work closely with your exhibit designer so that their choices support your goals.

I've developed exhibits for:

  • Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center

  • South Dakota Air and Space Museum

  • Badlands National Park

  • Missouri History Museum

  • Winterthur Museum
